Anniversary trip Day 4 August 6

We got a late start for breakfast today. On our trip bucket list was to eat at Top Pot Doughnuts. I'd heard about these doughnuts from my niece, Sonia, and she highly recommended them. Because  we got there after 10 a.m. Many of the speciality donuts were sold out. We each got two and a delicious cup of coffee. 

The two in the bottom of the above photo were mine. So fresh and yummy! I liked this decoration outside. Maybe it's to lock a bike to? The doughnut shop was in an urban setting and we has to park in a package garage to get there.

After breakfast we went to Bank of America to pick up the Canadian money Jose has ordered. Then we checked out of the hotel and drove about 20 minutes to Seattle and Pike Place Market. The traffic and parking was rather overwhelming and we decided to park in an underground structure without hassling looking for cheaper or closer parking. That choice cost us $24 for about 2.5 hours. Ouch! 

We walked around and took lots of photos: 

The photo above is the Gum Wall in Lost Alley. It is on both sides of the alley. People stand there and chew their gum and then just stick it on the wall. The photos don't do the colors any justice. 

I loved these Oriental lilies at the open market there!

We went to lunch at Pike Place Chowder and had to wait about 20 minutes in line. The seating area was tiny but I was lucky enough to snag two seats at the counter while Jose waited in line to order. We each had an 8 oz. bowl of the New England clam chowder and half a crab roll. The chowder was A-MAZ-ING!!! Super creamy and full of clams. Yum! The crab roll was heavy on fillings and light on crab. Next time I would order only the clam chowder! 

After lunch, we walked around the public marker some more. I loved all the fresh flowers and we were amazed at the size of the fresh fish for sale. 

Jose loves the size of the shrimp cocktails there though he was too full from lunch to try one!

After that, we got on the road to Canada!

Needless to say, we were pretty excited! This is the first time we have EVER left the USA together since we met 27 years ago! 

Dinner was at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Richmond, very near our hotel. We were tired from our busy day of walking and driving. The meal was delicious!

We're on the fourth floor of our hotel and I caught this photo of our first Canadian sunset with my phone. 

I'm grateful for safe travels and the opportunity to have this time alone together to relax and recharge before a very busy school year ahead.
