The Year in Reading

In 2009, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and read a variety of genres. In total, I read 55 books, eleven less than the previous year. Here are the highlights of this year's reading:

My all time favorite book of the yearThe Help by Kathryn Stockett  Everyone should read it!

Young Adult books I loved:  The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, and Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer

Children books I loved:  Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli, When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead, and Umbrella Summer by Lisa Graff

Other fiction titles I really enjoyed:  The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister, and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
